With the start of this semester we can proudly announce that our new division facility at Lindholmen "the CLOUD" now is open to the divisions members.
You find the room on the first floor of the Patricia, opposite of the elevator. Make sure to take good care of it and contact gurgy@chalmers.it if you have any suggestions.
Note: There is still some ongoing work related to trash, and inventory management in the facility.
This year's student voice will be held online!
It only takes a few minutes and will help the student union in their work.
Follow the link to take it:

As you probably understand, this division meeting will be a little different and will be conducted remotely. Furthermore, since large conference calls often do not work well for discussion, we will change the division meeting's layout somewhat. We have also been in contact with the union management team who are positive about changing the format of the meeting to make it work as well as possible remotely.
The meeting will be open for several days (Monday to Thursday SV6) and will largely be conducted on the VoteIT platform: https://www.voteit.se/
To a large extent, the meeting will take place via a web portal where you can log in to vote, submit proposals or discuss anytime during the day.
On Thursday evening we will also have a video call where we jointly go through all the points, close the polls, look at the results and congratulate the elected.
The fact that the meeting starts on Monday has some impact on our deadlines set by the statues:
We realize that this is not optimal, but we try to make the best of the situation and hope you understand it.
Hey!
I hope the remote studies are working well for you all.
Although it is convenient to be only a few meters from the refrigerator, there are some disadvantages to being at home all the time, especially that you do not get enough social interaction and start missing the friends on campus. Therefore, the division has created a discord server where you can hang out or study with other students. Go to this link to join: https://discord.gg/YMtnUB5
The union also has a small quick guide with things that are good to think about when you study from home: https://chalmersstudentkar.se/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Study-Off-Campus_v8.pdf
Have it been good we will hear on discord!
Now it's finally time for aspiration!
After considering the opinions of the interested we have decided to have a few physical events:
Join #styrit-aspning-20 on slack for more information and location to each event.
See you there!
Due to the current circumstances with covid-19 and remote studies, we will have to delay the opening of the CLOUD.
Hope that you understand our decision.
Hi, as you probably know, there is a lot of talk about corona right now and Chalmers, the student union and the student division are doing what we can to prevent the spread of the virus.
What you can do yourself is to maintain good hand hygiene and stay home if you have flu-like symptoms (even if they are mild).
There is also a lot of misinformation about the virus, so be critical and keep an eye on official sources such as the public health authority's website
If you suspect that you have been infected by the coronavirus, please notify the Board by email at styrit@chalmers.it (the entire board), samo@chalmers.it (Baloo only) or ordf@chalmers.it (Gurgy only) so that we can follow the spread of the virus on the student division. We will handle your mail anonymously and only use non-identifying information to prevent further spread of infection in the student division.
If you get sick, no matter what kind of illness, don't forget that there is info from Chalmers about the support you can get then. E.g. Sickness benefits from the Social Insurance Office and lower requirements from CSN if you report sickness to them.
If you feel uneasy or feel bad and need to talk to someone, Feelgood is there. Remember that everything is study-related if it affects your studies!
The university has more info on student health care.
Below you can read about what Chalmers do to prevent the spread of infection and how it affects you.
All teaching for SP4 will be remote.
The university also has an info page on covid-19 with more guidelines and information.
They also have an info page on covid-19 with updated information.
The student division will cancel larger (cross-divisional) events-
The board also recommends all events that are not essential to operations to close.
We closely monitor the development of events and will adjust decisions as needed.
Hello again. Since last, we have been trying to get in touch with the property owner to investigate co-financing of the kitchen. In this process, however, we have come into contact with chalmers, who has now chosen to not allow any major renovations in the Hub (which a kitchen would mean). Their reasons are strongly linked to "finances in balance" as they believe that rebuilding can lead to higher rents / maintenance fees for them and limits the mobility of the building. Furthermore, they advise us to raise the issue again in a couple of years when things have calmed down with "finances in balance".
Since it is the area of education that is in the lease agreement, we cannot oppose their decision and will, for the time being, close down work on a new kitchen for the Hub.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact styrit@chalmers.it
We also invite you to come and talk to us about the question on Tuesday LV1 17:15 in EG-3217
Hi!
As usual, a lot has happened since the last, but we will start with the good news.
The new student facility at Lindholmen will open in study week 1, i.e. March 23rd. It's called The CLOUD and will be equipped with brand new furniture as well as free coffee to meet the needs at Lindholmen. If you have any suggestions for the room, please feel free to contact ordf@chalmers.it. Exact location will be available on opening day.
Something that does not affect the student division, but the university and thus your studies, is Chalmers' project "economy in balance". The short version is that Chalmers needs to save a lot of money and are now looking for ways to do so. This can lead to some changes, such as a larger intake on the bachelor program next year.
At present, there is a proposal to expand the IT bachelor program so that we will have about 150 first year students next year instead of 120. Nothing has yet been decided on this proposal, but we are actively participating in the risk analysis work to ensure that the university can make an informed decision.
Last but not least, we also have some news about the kitchen in Hubben. We have now received an okey from the property owner and a quotation. Unfortunately, the cost of the new kitchen is about 1.1 million and the university can't co-finance the construction because of "economy in balance". We do therefore not feel that it is justifiable to spend so much of the section's money on a kitchen when we do not own the property and Hubben probably has to be changed in the near future to accommodate more students. However, an opportunity that remains is to co-finance with the property owner, something we are currently investigating.
That was all for this time. If you have any questions or concerns, you can, as usual, contact us at styrit@chalmers.it.
We are proud to present former pro handball player Linnéa Claeson for Of Course! She is also the founder of Assholes online and currently a law student who wants to change the world through kindness. Hear her talk about the crooked path to becoming an international troublemaker - free lunch to the first 250!
More over we will relese tickets to an inspiring mingle where you can meet and network with prominent Chalmers alumni over a nice meal.
More lectures and workshops will be released continuosly in the facebook event!
One of Chalmers biggest events is Chalmers Cortège. The Cortège is a ten-day student festival, where
you can meet and socialize with a thousand other students from different programs at Chalmers. During
the day, your group of friends, your construction team, can spend the days on the constructions sight.
Where you build a float as a sort of scene for a sketch you will play out, about some big news that
happened last year which your group has chosen. On the construction site there will also be games
played, mingle opportunities, and help and material given by CCC who are arranging everything.
In the evenings, the Beer-tent is open. There you can sit outside with a cold one in your hand while you
wait for the later part of the evening when the tent offers different live bands and DJs every night. If you
want to make a day of the Cortège-week even longer, you can head over to Gasquen, which is open
every night and the entry is free for all builders. At Gasquen during the week, the different programs are
competing in the Chalmers championships in festivity to see who can host the best party evening.
The finale is the 30 th of April, when the parade of all the constructed floats drive through Gothenburg
and show everyone in the city that spring has now arrived because Chalmers Cortège is here. Around
250 000 people watch the parade every year.
So gather up some friends and register now at bygg.cortegen.se. That way you will be a part of this 111-
year tradition at Chalmers and in Gothenburg. A tradition made for the sole purpose of community and
fun. The Cortège takes off 30 th of April 18:15. Do not miss out.
For more information on how to apply, go to our website cortegen.se. Just do it. If you then have any
questions or if you are just a little lonely, you can contact us on 031-18 45 35 or ccc@cortegen.se.
Hi!
Now the summer is over and as you can, unfortunately, see that the work on the kitchen has not begun. Since this is an important issue for many technologists and we have been told that some are worried that there will be no new kitchen, we want to update you on the situation.
The plans for the kitchen were not completed before the summer and have since been stalled due to vacations. The latest news we have received is that negotiations with the landlord as well as the property owner were ongoing. Neither have we received a final quote yet.
Regarding expanding hubben with an extra room, unfortunately, we have no news.
Even though things are slow, we are still determined to continue working on both issues.
The next update will come as soon as any of the projects develop.
If you have any questions, you can send them to styrit@chalmers.it

Go Mellow Yellow!!!!
At the next section meeting it's the time to choose new lay auditors and data protection representatives and therefore we are looking for people interested in the positions. As a lay auditor, you review the section's finances and activities to ensure that we comply with laws, and that the elected representatives perform their duties, as a data protection representative review the section's data management to ensure that we comply with the law and that all data is handled in a good way.
There is no prerequisite for any of the positions but it is an important assignment where you will have the opportunity to learn a lot.
On Thursday 27/09 17:00 in the hubben grouproom we will explain what it's like to be an accountant and data protection representative and tell you a little more about applying, etc.
By doodle, we will decide a time for a second meeting when you'll get to try the position of an accountant or data protection officer.
On October 4th, 17:00 we meet up one last time and do something fun.

Tuesday the 12th December digIT arranges a workshop where you can fine tune your solutions, discuss approaches or just learn about advent of code.
For those of you who haven't heard about advent of code before it's a set of programming problems released daily during december. The nature of the problems is such that a beginner can solve them and learn a great deal while the more experienced programmers can compete on the leaderboard with their solutions. Although many programmers use advent of code as a way of diving into a new programming language or sharpen their skills with a language they haven't used in a while.
Join #adventofcode on the cthit slack.

LaggIT keeps fighting for a membership in Sverok, but it has turned out that we need to make some adjustments in our statutes to get on with the process.
Therefore, we will hold an extra annual meeting on Friday, 28 / 4-2017 at 12:00 in group room 3217 with the aim of adjusting the statutes to allow for membership in Sverok.
