Game Nights Study Period 1

0 | 17 September | Permalink | Written for DrawIT by Vakant

Hello

Due to the current circumstances with COVID-19, we at DrawIT have decided to only host game nights every other week during study period 1. These gamenights will take place in ML11 and ML13. The first game night will be on Wednesday study week 4 (23/9).

To attend these game nights, it is required that you sign up on the sign up forms that will be posted for each game night. The sign up forms will be posted in #news and #drawit in Slack and also on our Facebook page. There will be 40 spots, which means that if more than 40 people sign up, it will be randomly chosen who gets to attend and those who don’t get a spot will have priority the next time they sign up for a game night. If less than 20 people sign up for a game night, it will be held in Hubben instead of ML11 and ML13.

To attend the game nights you have to be a member of DrawIT and if you aren’t already a member, you can become one here: https://ebas.sverok.se/signups/index/7557

EIA_Facebook_1200x630_2

-In collaboration with Ericsson-

To all university students, we would like to enlighten you on Ericsson Innovation Awards (EIA) and hope to inspire you to take the step to bring your ideas to life and also compete for a grand prize of 25,000 Euros.

Ericsson Innovation Awards (EIA) is a global university student competition that allows you to drive changes and bring your ideas to life. Specifically, there we challenge you to come up with innovative solutions on how Information Communication Technology (ICT) can change the future.

The theme for this year’s EIA is ‘Reclaim the Future’. With it, we put a focus on climate action and ideas committed to addressing the current and future challenges of climate change, primarily on how radical changes can be made to our creation, processing, and consumption of energy, through innovation. Your submitted ideas will involve the use/creation of ICT technologies, which provide access to information through telecommunications (this includes the internet, wireless networks, cell phones, and other communication mediums).

The competition runs from August until December and is broken down in 3 phases. Phase 1 has already started with the registration.
Registration date: August 1 – September 30.

Comprehensive information, guidelines to the competition, and all its prizes can also be found on the EIA website: https://www.ericsson.com/en/careers/eia
This only leaves us with one more thing to say: Ready, set, go!

Group study rooms removed in EDIT-building at Johanneberg

0 | 1 September | Permalink | Written for styrIT by putte

edit

Hello dear IT students!

Here is some information regarding group study rooms on the 6th floor of the EDIT building at Johanneberg.

From 14/9, the group rooms EG-6209-17 will be transferred to the department CSE. Before the transition, these are not bookable but work as first come, first served.

We in styrIT, together with the boards of Data and Electro, have represented the students' voices during the process and fought to keep them. Unfortunately, there is a lack of premises on both the students' and the department's side in EDIT and the question went to the principal who made the final decision. With that said, there is a continuous discussion about more study rooms for students at Johanneberg.

If you have more questions, you can always contact us.

Sincerely,
styrIT

Hubben during corona

0 | 26 August | Permalink | Written for P.R.I.T. by π

Hello dear IT-students!

In anticipation of the upcoming study period, Chalmers has introduced a number of rules for its facilities in order to reduce the spread of the corona virus. One consequence of these rules is that the capacity of Hubben has been reduced from 75 to 37 people at the same time. In accordance with these rules, P.R.I.T. wants to ask everyone to spend as little time in Hubben as possible, especially during rush hours, e.g. the lunch break. We have put up signs on all tables that specify the maximum amount of people that are allowed to sit there at once and we ask everyone to follow these recommendations!!

If we don't successfully follow these rules, we might lose access to Hubben for the time being, so please make sure to follow all guidelines even if it sometimes might be difficult for you.

Last but not least: Wash your hands, take care of each other and blow many kisses and we'll get through this!! <3

Best regards P.R.I.T.

Hello!
This Wednesday-Thursday the floor is getting cleaned properly in Hubben. This means people can't hang in Hubben since all the furniture will be stacked in the studyroom whilst the rest is getting cleaned. By Friday all is hopefully done and back to normal :)

Have a great summer <3

Hubben's couches are getting cleaned!

0 | 24 June | Permalink | Written for P.R.I.T. by Paint

tldr: Hubben will be closed tomorrow (25/6). Please don't sit on the couches the day after (26/6).

Tomorrow (25/6) from 07:00 to late the couches in Hubben will be cleaned by a company on site.

This means that the main area of Hubben will be closed for students all day. It will be noisy, so we wouldn't recommend sitting in the study room or group room.

The couches need at least 24 hours to dry. The first days the couches will be very sensitive and they will easily stain (they may even get stains from just touching), so we would appreciate if you try to avoid using them for the first few days <3

Start-up team looking for developers

0 | 10 June | Permalink | Written for ArmIT by Gotte

Join our early start-up!
Are you a student with skills in software development? Do you have some extra time to spare this summer?

We’re a team of four (three bachelor students in Gothenburg and one senior mentor) seeking a companion to join us and our start-up in developing a new digital service.
The concept of our solution has been proven abroad and we think it’s the right timing to introduce it to the Swedish market!
During the last couple of months, we’ve been exploring the tools and steps needed to turn this into a reality in Sweden. We’ve been scanning a range of different areas such as customer needs, technical needs, jurisdictional needs and economical needs.

Now it’s time to focus our energy on product development where we need someone with knowledge in software development in order to do some testing in several API:s and who can provide a wider perspective from a technical point of view.

The scale of this task is hard to predict but if you’re initially willing to roll up the sleeves a few hours a week we’re more than happy.

What we offer is salary (early start-up salary) and depending on the collaboration and ambition of the individual(s) we´ll consider letting go of a portion of the company as well.

Do you want to take part of this exciting journey? We’ll gladly continue the discussion over a coffee with suitable candidates!

Send your interest to:
info@localcommunity.se

(Candidates should be fluent in Swedish and/or English)

Kind regards,
Team start-up
